10 years of karting excitement !

Trois-Rivières, July 10, 2008 - The Monaco de Trois-Rivières is back, celebrating its 10th edition of family-friendly entertainment at the Parc portuaire de Trois-Rivières. Over 120 karting enthusiasts from all over North America will be showing off their skills behind the wheel of their tiny racers on July 26 and 27. Cheer them on as they battle it out for one of the eight prestigious titles!

The Monaco de Trois-Rivières attracts over 20 000 spectators each year. Over the last nine years, it has built an outstanding reputation among Quebec’s karting competitions. Part of its appeal is the urban track with its gorgeous view of the St-Lawrence River.

Come experience the thrills of this can’t-miss Mauricie event!

Change in the event’s name : « When it was first held in 1999, the race was called Petit Monaco. As the event gained in popularity over the years, it became important to show the population that the Monaco was all grown up. That is when the Petit Monaco became the Monaco de Trois-Rivières. »

Champions in the city : The Monaco de Trois-Rivières is known outside of the city and province, with good reason. This year, we are welcoming Fritz Lieesmans, US champion in the shifter class, as well as Samtino Feruchi, US champion in the junior class. Several other drivers from Ontario, the US and Canada’s east coast are expected to participate.

Races:

Classes : A total of 8 classes will be competing in 7 races: junior, 4 stroke SR, Master RTX, FR 125 Max JR, FR 125 Max SR, in addition to the reigning classes: 125/Shifter and Master/Shifter

Paddocks : Spectators will be given unique access to the pits, providing an opportunity to see the karts up close and chat with the technicians and racers.

Show : To celebrate its 10th anniversary in style, the Monaco de Trois-Rivières has invited Alter Ego to perform. The band’s eight (8) singers and musicians will take to the stage at the Parc portuaire de Trois-Rivières on July 26, moving the crowd to toe-tapping hits from the 80s and 90s. This free, fun-filled evening kicks off at 9:00 p.m.

The team : An organizing committee spends many hours each year ensuring that the Monaco remains a high-calibre event.  The nine members of the team gladly donate their time and infuse their passion. Needless to say, none of this would be possible without all of their hard work. Onsite, a hundred or so volunteers lend a hand to set up the site and provide security, in addition to carrying out a number of other important tasks.

Major sponsors : Sincere thanks to our loyal sponsors who help fund the Monaco and donate their time: the city of Trois-Rivières, Breyers, Coors Light, Bellemare, Narconon, Canadian Tire, ADN Communication, PSL Karting and the Club de Karting de l’Est du Québec (CKEQ).

Auto show : In addition to the karting races, the Monaco includes a four-day auto show for all you car enthusiasts. Come admire the eye-catching vehicles exhibited by a number of the region’s dealerships.

See you there !
